An American Airlines flight attendant was found dead in a hotel room near Philadelphia International Airport.
The 66-year-old woman was found unresponsive at the Philadelphia Airport Marriott on Monday night with a cloth in her mouth, a Philadelphia Police Department spokesperson told USA TODAY in an emailed statement. She was pronounced dead at 10:45 p.m. local time.
There were no arrests made or weapons recovered, and her body was transported to the medical examiner’s office. “The investigation is active and ongoing with the Homicide Detectives Division,” the spokesperson said.
“We are devastated by this news,” an American Airlines spokesperson said in an emailed statement. “Our thoughts are with the family and colleagues, and we’re doing everything we can to ensure all affected have the support they need during this difficult time. We will continue to cooperate fully with local law enforcement in their investigation.”
The Philadelphia Airport Marriott referred a request for comment to Philadelphia police, but said it is also fully cooperating with the investigation.
